It was an earlier spring here in Labrador (mid May) and
it’s been wonderful to see all the new life.
A highlight was the hatching of 18 new baby
chicks from our own eggs. This was the
first time we tried keeping roosters over the winter and we had a 100% hatch
rate with the incubator we used. Idonea has really enjoyed exploring the outdoors, planting the garden and playing in the sand.
We are blessed by our many friends and family, many of whom
we were able to spend time with these last few months. It was really special to host several of our MCC
colleagues here in Labrador for an Eastern Canada Leadership retreat. Idonea especially enjoyed a visit from Uncle
Lelyn in June. They had a lot of fun playing and being crazy
together. It also happens that a number of our
Labrador friends were leaving Goose Bay and so we were happy to be able to
spend some time with them before they left.
We will miss them and wish them well in their new homes! We also enjoyed a visit from
our friends the Mortan-Ninomiya family from St. John’s, who were great
caretakers of Dune and the chickens for a few days after we left on our
road trip.
