July Road Trip

In July we took a little road trip.  We hadn’t driven the road in/out of Labrador since we arrived in 2008, so it was fun to traverse again the 550km Trans-Labrador highway and the equally long Quebec road to Baie-Comeau.  Fortunately, there’s a few more hours of pavement now.   After several nights of camping along the way, our first destination was Dunham, Quebec for the beautiful and jubilant wedding of our friends Karen and Luc.   Idonea and their son Tavli really connected on a similar “wavelength” and carried on whole conversations as they played together.  Then we headed further south to Maine where we enjoyed a few days with Jen’s parents at Acadia National Park, who were on the east coast for a family reunion.  Our time with them went too fast before we had to move on to central Maine.  Jen enjoyed a weekend seminar there on Herbal Medicine.   After that we turned back northward through New Brunswick, stopping by Moncton to visit our friend and MCC Maritimes colleague, Frank.  We tried not to put too many hours of driving into a each day and Idonea especially enjoyed camping, playgrounds wherever we ran into them, the zoo in Granby, QC, and finding horses all along the way!   We timed the trip just right as it wasn't until the final hours of driving home on the last day when idonea said, "Mommy, let's walk home.  I'm tired of riding in the car!"
