It has been so much fun to watch Idonea continue to explore her world. She becomes more curious, expressive, interactive and playful everyday and is just beginning to find the joy in opening new doors and seeing what's inside. As an adult its so easy to see only the mundane in life, but the enthusiasm of a little one draws us back into the excitement and profound newness present in each moment.
It has also been a bit of a relief to have the construction crew finally complete their part of the renovation. While we enjoyed getting to know them--greeting them fresh out of bed at 7am, sharing coffee breaks and getting some occasional advice on projects Kerry was working on--it is also nice to have the house back to ourselves. Now we're in the process of moving things back in... making decisions about what goes where and what to discard, as well as the various smaller projects such as moving carpets and putting together desks. We are really happy with the work they did and are feeling very privileged to be in what feels like an almost new house, especially with a nice spacious office.
It has been nearly 6 months since the renovation began and so, along with Idonea entering our lives, it has been quite a year of changes. There have also been work changes this year with our immediate supervisor in New Brunswick having left for an MCC position in Egypt and the person in the position above him in Winnipeg also soon to be leaving for another position. So we have at times felt a bit alone in our work here in remote Labrador. It will be nice when we have some new individuals to work with and support us again in a supervisory role. And yet we continue to enjoy our work and the people in the community with whom we work on a regular basis. Thanks for keeping us in your thoughts!
