2013... the first 5 months!
The first months of 2013 at the Saner-Harvey’s have been filled with anticipation, celebration and “re-creation!” Although we had a few big Labrador snowfalls to ski on and dig out of, the winter was again milder than is typical for here and the spring came a full three weeks ahead of its time. The biggest anticipation, of course, has been awaiting the arrival of our very active baby sometime around June 21, which is 3 short weeks away! It’s been exciting for all of us to watch Jen’s belly growing and moving! Idonea has been putting in overtime practicing diapering her babies and her play is increasingly creative from giving her animals haircuts, to taking them on bus rides or sailing them on a pirate-ship adventure to Mexico!
Mexico has been her recent destination of choice, following the real adventure that Jen and Idonea took with Grandma Karen in February. The three generations of women took a very special trip together before our family expands. Some unfortunate weather and airline related delays meant Jen and Idonea had the unexpected fortune to spend a long weekend with good friends in St. John’s. They did finally make it to their destination and savored every minute of the time they had together on this exceptional get-away. Idonea loved the palm trees, warm breezes, fresh tropical fruit and swimming and playing with Mama and Grandma. These relationships and memories are truly cherished.
March is our month of celebrations as it brought in our 6th wedding anniversary, Idonea’s 3rd birthday and Jen’s 35th. Idonea requested a puppy cake this year and she came up with her own party guest list. She also enjoyed celebrating Easter by coloring some eggs, which were then hidden around the house by a very handsome Easter Bunny! She also tried out ice skating for the first time this year—with a little help from a chair, Daddy and a little friend! We've enjoyed many special family times while it is still just the three of us.
Kerry too got in on the birthday excitement with his 38th in April, and he was ‘uplifted’ by a little birthday toy of his own. In May, we reluctantly said goodbye to our good friends Mary and Dave and it appeared to be the first time Idonea really associated sadness with the departure of someone significant to her. The grand openings of the new Women’s Shelter and Women’s Centre were two work-related highlights, and Idonea helped pack a number of toiletry boxes for folks in the community. In addition to enjoying warm days and planting seeds, May also brought forth an abundance of new baby chicks, from our very fertile roosters and hens! Kerry had a successful hatch in the incubator and the other half of the new flock was hatched naturally by two broody mother hens. It was very exciting to see their patience and nurturing instincts emerge as they sat for 3 full weeks and then kept a watchful eye over their new little fluff-balls. We hope you are also experiencing the abundance of spring, the nurturing of life around you and the anticipation of blessings and solace amidst the changes and transformation happening in all our lives. Peace, Kerry, Jen & Idonea
